AUXCOMM Membership Requirements

The very foundation for AUXCOMM is a trained membership.  The major emphasis from the Department of Homeland Security was knowledge of the ICS/NIMS operating system.  The minimum requirements were the completion of the core four courses, ICS-100, 200, 700 and 800.

The following is the requirement to take the AUXCOMM course.  It is intended to supplement and standardize an operator’s experience and knowledge of emergency amateur radio communications in a public safety context.

Prerequisites for attendance are:

·An active FCC Amateur Radio license and submitting a copy of the license
·Completion of the latest version of IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 and submitting             certifications
·Submittal of past experience in auxiliary emergency communications
·A desire to work with COML's  a NIMS/ICS environment.

The Virginia AUXCOMM Advisory Committee agreed on a model that would allow for admission into the association on a basis of a step system.
