The purpose of this exercise is to equip new emergency communicators with basic skills and review skills of the seasoned operator. This includes Red Cross and shelters throughout Virginia. It will also involves agencies such as the Virginia Department of Emergency Management EOC, National Weather Service, Blacksburg WFO, Wakefield SKYWARN, hospital associations and Search and Rescue and medical rescue squads. We will have church groups such as the LDS and the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. On digital we will use primarily the Winlink system both on VHF/UHF and HF.
