VE testing is now on a quarterly schedule. Our next regular test session is scheduled for January 19, 2023 at the First Christian Church, 402 N. Jefferson Street, Galax VA 24333.
This site will post information on testing date, time and location. Normally we test at Carroll County Fire and Rescue Building We also give tests at special sites when classes for licensing have been completed. Click the registration tab above to signup for a test session. OUR TEST ARE FREE ! New and renewal of license will require a $35.00 that must be submitted to the FCC.
Advanced schedule for the year 2023 is January 19th, April 20th, July 20th, and October 19th. Other test may be given at special times. One of these will be June 24th (Field Day)

Our upcoming test will be under the Laurel VEC organization. This means that the testing will be free to all that participate. The FCC will be changing $35.00 for licensing for 10 years. Please click on the registration link above and fill out the short form to let us know that you are planning on testing with us. You will need one form of picture ID or two forms of IDs if not a picture ID and if you have a current Amateur Radio license bring a copy of your license that we can keep to send in with your test. You will need a FRN number to take the test. This can be aquired by clicking here. If you have questions, give Glen Sage, N4DN a call at 276-398-3548. We WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT WALK-INS. You must register at least 5 days prior to the test. Yoru registration for the test captures all the information required for the FCC-605 form so when you arrive your completed 605 will be ready and all you will need to do is sign the 605 form at the test sesson. We will not be accepting WALK-INs.

All test will be given at no charge to the person testing. Bring 2 IDs or one picture ID. If you are upgrading bring a copy of your license that you can leave with the VEs so that it can be submitted with your test. After sucessful complection of your test, you will be reguired to submit a payment of $35.00 to the FCC. You will also need a FRN number and an email address to take the test.
