Announcements for "Operation Hazel II"
Instructions

Messages will be sent as attachments to each participate prior to the day of the exercise.  These will be in a text format (txt) to allow the files to be imported directly into the Winlink Airmail software.  You can also choose to cut and paste these messages into the body of the messages that you will be sending.  If you choose, you may send at least part of these messages on voice nets.  Each participating location will receive 10 messages to be sent in the "search and recovery phase" of the exercise.  A number of messages will also be sent to your location that will require a reply back to the originator.  You will also receive replies back from the messages that you send out.

If you are in the impact area, you will receive a couple of pages that describe your simulated weather as it develops over the 6 hour period.  From these descriptions, you will need to generate your weather report for the Skywarn net.  For example, if your sheet shows that at the present time your have received wind gust in excess of 72 MPH and rain fall of 3 inches in the time of 0800 to 0900 hours, this would need to be reported as both are reportable events.

If the Virginia Defense Force participates in this exercise with Winlink contact only, you may send Winlink messages to the VDF.  You will need to place //MARS R/   in the beginning of the "subject line" followed by your subject.  Their normal message system is using the ICS-213 in the "text" section of the message.  This is the same system that we are using for non-MARS messages.  Their Winlink addresses can be found under   "Agencies Participation with Communications". Copy this agency page and print it so that you will have current  Winlink addresses for all sites

Thanks,
